BUSCH 12140 - Steam locomotive »Decauville« Type 3
Based on a prototype locomotive that was in service at the Weißwasser steam brickworks from 1950 to 1957. With type plate. Wheel arrangement B. Length: 42 mm.The prototype comes from the workshop of the French field railway pioneer Paul Decauville (1846-1922), who, starting in 1875, developed his own field railway system consisting of tracks, trolleys, and locomotives. Due to its widespread use and long service life across various eras, this steam locomotive is universally suitable for many applications, such as forest railways, brickworks railways, tourist railways, tramways, open-cast mining, and as an army field railway. Today, four of these robust locomotives are still preserved in their original condition. One of them can be admired in working order at the Frankfurt Field Railway Museum (www.feldbahn-ffm.de). The vehicle from the early 20th century has a service weight of 6.5 tons and an output of 20 hp. The large water tanks are typical, giving the locomotive a considerable operating radius. Many details, such as the design with an external frame, are perfectly realized in the model. The delicate connecting rods are even fully movable. New (larger) wagons for a wide variety of transport purposes round out this new development, although the steam locomotive can, of course, pull all wagons from the Busch field railway range.
