Pocher
Scale 1:8 – Model making at a high-end level
Pocher models consist of over 800 to 2,900 individual parts, depending on the series, including metal, brass, leather, rubber, and high-strength plastics. Many elements are functional, including:
- rotating crankshafts & moving pistons
- functioning steering & suspension
- opening doors, hoods & Fuel filler cap
- retractable windows
- partially even illuminated instruments
This makes Pocher models among the most complex model cars ever produced.
Iconic vehicle selection
Over the decades, Pocher collaborated with many luxury and racing brands, reproducing their models with the utmost precision. Among the most famous are:
- Lamborghini Aventador & Huracán
- Pagani Utopia
- Porsche 917K / 917KH (Gulf & Martini)
- Rolls-Royce Phantom II
- Mercedes-Benz 500K
- Alfa Romeo 2300 Monza
- Bugatti Type 50
In addition, Pocher produces spectacular 1:4 Motorcycles, like the Ducati Panigale 1299 Final Edition.
Material quality & construction
Pocher combines die-cast metal bodies with photo-etched parts, real textiles, rubber parts and a screw-together rather than glued construction. This allows models to be maintained, modified or completely disassembled later – a unique selling point compared to classic kits.
History & revival under Hornby
Pocher was founded in 1966 by the Italian precision mechanic Arnaldo Pocher. After decades under various owners, Hornby Hobbies has continued the traditional brand since 2013 – with new designs, modern manufacturing technology and an enduring fascination for model builders. For collectors & Model Building Professionals: Pocher kits are not for beginners – they are aimed at ambitious model builders looking for the ultimate building project: High-quality presentation in the display case; faithful reproduction of legendary vehicles; high collector value, especially for Classic kits. Many classic cars are now considered highly sought-after rarities.
