dapol
Dapol Ltd. is a renowned British model railway manufacturer based in Chirk, Wales, and was founded in 1983 by David and Pauline Boyle. The name 'Dapol' is derived from the founders' first names and has stood for innovation, quality, and variety in the model railway sector for over four decades. Originally starting in the 00-gauge market, Dapol quickly made a name for itself by acquiring and further developing well-known molds and tools – including those from the former Airfix, Mainline, and Kitmaster ranges. These historical tools still form the basis for an extensive range of kits and accessories that are appreciated worldwide. Following a strategic realignment at the end of the 1990s, Dapol focused particularly on the British N gauge (1:148) and set new standards there in terms of attention to detail, technology and product range diversity. Models like the 14xx steam locomotive are considered a turning point in the quality development of British N-gauge models and made Dapol one of the leading suppliers in this scale.

Today, Dapol is active in N, OO, and O gauges and offers a wide portfolio of locomotives, carriages, freight cars, signals, couplings, and model kits. Many models are DCC-ready or available with sound options and are aimed at both beginners and discerning collectors. Since returning to OO gauge and entering the O gauge market, Dapol has consistently expanded its product range. With its own development department, modern manufacturing facilities, and long-standing international partnerships, Dapol combines British model railway tradition with contemporary technology. The company is now considered one of the most innovative manufacturers of British prototypes and is an indispensable part of the model railway world.
