Kit. Construction of the town hall in Alsfeld began in 1512. In 1883, the walled-up arcades were uncovered, the towers on the front were added in 1887/88, a general renovation was carried out in 1910/11, and the towers on the rear were also reattached in 1967/68. After its complete restoration, the town hall is an outstanding example of historic preservation work in Alsfeld, a testament to the citizens' love for their city and to the attitude of the governing bodies towards matters of historic preservation. It is the distinctive landmark of Alsfeld. The overall structure represents a very successful combination of stone architecture and timber construction.
