Märklin 030391 - Rheingold electric locomotive class E10.12

Model Details

The E10 was the name of the electric locomotive with which the German Federal Railway (Deutsche Bundesbahn) embarked on its major leap forward in the early years of the economic miracle. Series production of this 140 km/h (87 mph) and 5000 hp locomotive began in 1956. Soon, hundreds of these reliable and elegant locomotives populated the DB (German Federal Railway) tracks. In 1965, Märklin launched a model of the E10 that, like the full-size prototype, shone with robustness and reliability. Excellent detailing combined with proven drive technology and a heavy die-cast body made the Märklin E10 a bestseller. However, at that time, they opted not to produce a model of the "creased" E10.3 or the blue and beige variants for 160 km/h (100 mph) operation on the new luxury trains "Rheingold" and "Rheinpfeil." Now, the long-cherished wish of many Märklin enthusiasts has come true: they have been yearning for a cobalt blue/beige retro "creased" version of the E10.12 series. Inside this fantastic new model, state-of-the-art technology is at work, while the exterior is characterized by its solid metal body, perfectly evoking the heyday of the German Federal Railway and the legendary metal models from Göppingen. Prototype: Class E10.12 "creased" electric locomotive of the German Federal Railway (DB). Cobalt blue/beige livery, as a Rheingold locomotive. Version with 5 headlights, continuous fan strip with rounded ends, continuous rain gutter, buffer cover, and skirt. Locomotive road number E10 1265. Operating condition circa 1962/63. Model: First edition with a retro-style metal body. With mfx digital decoder. Controlled high-efficiency propulsion. Two axles in one bogie are driven. Traction tires. Directional triple headlights, conventionally operational, digitally switchable. Locomotive body and chassis made of metal. Relex couplers on both ends. Packaging with a colored illustration of the locomotive, based on the historical packaging of the 1960s. Length over buffers 18 cm.

The matching TEE Rheingold coach set (tin plate) for the BR E10.12 electric locomotive can be found in the Märklin H0 range under item number 40852.
