Model Details

They were intended to be the "ICE" of the 1940s: We're talking about the 55 elegant, super-fast, and powerful streamlined express steam locomotives of the 01.10 series. After the war, however, little remained of their former glory. Nevertheless, the potential of this locomotive type, plagued by various teething problems, was recognized. Between 1953 and 1956, the three-cylinder engines received a new high-performance boiler and a modern feedwater heater system. The result was super-powerful steam locomotives that became a mainstay of high-quality express rail service. Mileages of 25,000 km per month were not uncommon until the end of their service in 1975. This legendary locomotive is therefore an absolute must-have for any model railway collection.

Prototype: Class 01.10 express steam locomotive with a newly built high-performance boiler and 2´3 T38 coal tender of the German Federal Railroad (DB). Black livery with red chassis. Version without streamlining. With silver boiler bands. Two-light headlights. Witte smoke deflectors and single-sided inductive train protection (Indusi). Locomotive road number 01 1059. Operating condition after boiler conversion around 1955/56.

Lighting with maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs. With energy storage. Close coupling with kinematics between locomotive and tender. Kinematically guided close coupling with NEM coupler pocket on the tender. Buffer height on locomotive and tender according to NEM standards. Minimum radius for operation: 360 mm. Piston rod protection tubes and brake hoses are included. Length over buffers 27.7 cm.

The Class 01.10 with new boiler is the appropriate steam locomotive for the express train D 74 Hamburg Altona - Basel SBB for the Frankfurt-Basel section, which can be recreated with the carriages from items 42491, 42533 and 42526.
