Model Details

Prototype: Class 101 express train locomotive of the German Federal Railway (DB AG). Livery in traffic red, as the locomotive for the ICE high-speed train carriages of the former Metropolitan passenger carriages (MET). Locomotive road number 101 131-1. Operating condition circa 2015.
Model: With mfx+ digital decoder and extensive sound functions. Controlled high-efficiency propulsion with flywheel, centrally mounted. 4 axles driven via cardan shafts. Traction tires. Directional triple headlights and two red marker lights operate conventionally; digitally switchable. High beams and cab lighting can be switched separately digitally. Headlights on locomotive ends 1 and 2 can each be switched off separately digitally. Double-A headlight function. Lighting with maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs. A 2-pole coupler is inserted into the standard coupler pocket on locomotive end 2, providing an electrical connection to the express train car 1 from the ICE express train car set 42930. A standard close coupler head is inserted into the standard coupler pocket on locomotive end 1. Length over buffers: 21.9 cm. This locomotive can only be fully operated in conjunction with the ICE express train car set 42930 due to the 2-pole current-carrying coupler between the locomotive and the car. Operation of this locomotive with other passenger or freight cars is not possible for technical reasons. For use with the sliding contact switch between the BR 101 and the ICE high-speed train carriage set, please refer to the instructions in the user manual.

To form a prototypical 8-car train unit, only the ICE high-speed train carriage set 42930 is intended for use with this Class 101 electric locomotive.
