Still mysterious: The Roswell case The most well-known and controversial case in UFO history is the alleged crash of a spaceship near Roswell, New Mexico. A farmer found wreckage made of an unknown metal foil that could be crumpled at will and quickly returned to its original shape. The bodies of supposed aliens were also discovered. The case caused quite a stir in the public eye. However, all wreckage and body parts were quickly confiscated by the American military. Later, it was claimed that the parts found were the remains of a weather balloon, and that the bodies were dummies used to study the effects of an impact from a great height. However, it remains a mystery to this day why the military ordered hermetically sealed children's coffins from the local funeral home to transport the dolls. Area 51 - a UFO hideout? Area 51, sometimes referred to as "Dreamland," is a piece of desert (the size of Switzerland) in the middle of Nevada. It was built as a secret air force base in 1954.
