Modellbundesbahn
The Model Federal Railway has been one of Germany's best-known and most realistic model railway exhibitions for many years. It offers an impressive miniature world that takes visitors on a journey back in time to the summer of 1975 – complemented by stunningly realistic landscapes, meticulously detailed replicas, and an exceptionally authentic railway atmosphere.
The exhibition was originally opened in Bad Driburg in 2005 and quickly developed into a supra-regional crowd-puller.
The exhibition was originally opened in Bad Driburg in 2005 and quickly developed into a supra-regional crowd-puller.
More than 300,000 visitors have explored the meticulously detailed model landscape, which, thanks to day and night simulations and precisely designed scenes, is among the most realistic layouts in the German-speaking world. With the subsequent move to Brakel, the exhibition space was significantly expanded – from 230 m² to an impressive 675 m². This created additional space for new construction phases, including the well-known Teutoburg Forest section, which has been one of the highlights since Easter 2022. The Model Railway enjoys an excellent reputation within the model railway community. Visitors and trade media particularly praise the combination of realistic railway technology, historical representation, and landscape precision, which makes the project a benchmark for model railway exhibitions. Until its planned closure on May 29, 2026, the Model Federal Railway will remain open Thursdays through Sundays and continue to attract model railway enthusiasts, technology buffs, and families alike.
