WIKING 072003 - Büssing Trambus - sky blue/light ivoryModel DetailsThe finishing makes it possible – the already legendary Büssing Trambus shines for the first time in a two-tone design. And WIKING chose the sky blue/light ivory color scheme, which was popular at the time and used by many urban transport companies. WIKING fans once only knew the Büssing Trambus with a fully glazed upper section. When it went on sale in 1951, the Büssing Trambus was a bestseller. This was primarily due to WIKING CEO Friedrich Peltzer giving the miniature bus a unique feature in the transport model range: the transparent roof section attractively simulated the glazing otherwise missing from models – giving the viewer a clear view of the interior. The original Büssing Trambus had already been presented at the Hanover Trade Fair in 1949. Particularly striking: It had an underfloor diesel engine, which is also visible on the underside of the bus body, including the chassis, in the WIKING model. WIKING 073005 - Coach (Setra S8) - beige/azure blueModel DetailsThe powerful chrome trim on the front was its unmistakable trademark: Here comes a brand-new Setra! This is how people experienced the 1950s, and this is how WIKING fans of the first post-war decade liked the bus, which at least already had glass, in an approximate 1:100 scale. The beige flanks are colored with a sweeping blue arch, complemented by fine, surrounding trim. The glass roof contrasts with the lower body in the same blue. It was something like Setra's dream of a summer retreat under glass. The Setra S8 in particular conveys something of the new feel-good culture of the post-war decade. The corresponding flair of the two-tone design was a must for any luxurious appearance – with a panoramic roof, of course! Thanks to the prototypically painted roof and window struts, a maximum degree of authenticity is achieved. The S8 has an outstanding history within bus development: Immediately after the war, Otto Kässbohrer began the ambitious design project for the first bus with a self-supporting body.
