ZIMO Elektronik GmbH, located at Schönbrunner Straße 188 in Vienna, has been one of the world's leading manufacturers of digital control and decoder systems for model railways for decades. The company was founded in 1980, but its roots go back even further: As early as 1979, its predecessor company, Ziegler & Mair first digital model railway control systems on the market.

During the 1980s and 1990s, ZIMO introduced new standards and pioneering digital systems such as M10002, M2000, M4000, M4001 and the operating units of the M5000 series. Since 1996, ZIMO has aligned its systems with the internationally established DCC track signal and the MM system – another milestone that firmly established the company in digital model railway technology. Today, ZIMO offers a comprehensive range of digital decoders, sound decoders, function decoders, speakers, update devices, and various accessories for virtually every model railway gauge. In-house electronics development and production ensure the highest quality, precision, and reliability 'Made in Austria'. ZIMO is also firmly established in the industry as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM). With an export quota of around 75%, ZIMO delivers its innovative products worldwide and is considered one of the technological pioneers in the model railway digital control segment. Managing Director Dr. Peter Ziegler has led the company for many years and holds 100% of the company shares.
