It received its first registration as D-AQUI on April 6, 1936, and flew for Deutsche Luft Hansa, with a brief interruption, until 1945. After the end of World War II, it continued to operate commercially in Norway until the mid-1950s, before being sold to Ecuador. There, it carried passengers and cargo for several more years until it was parked in Quito in 1962. A few years later, American private collectors discovered the wreckage, renovated the aircraft, and presented the Ju-52 at airshows as "Iron Annie."
