Model Details
New for 2026: The T 9.3 was a robust tender locomotive that proved its worth in both passenger and freight service. With a top speed of 65 km/h, it was among the most powerful locomotives of its time – and became one of the most produced locomotives in Germany. From 1901, the Prussian State Railways procured over 2,000 units of this proven type from the Königsberg Union Foundry. The Imperial Railways in Alsace-Lorraine also relied on the T 9.3 and ordered a further 132 locomotives. In 1925, the German Reichsbahn took over the majority of the locomotives and classified them as Class 91. Over the course of their long service life, numerous locomotives were exported, including to the Czech Republic and Poland. After World War II, many examples remained in Germany, where they reliably performed their duties well into the 1960s and 1970s. With its combination of power, versatility, and robust engineering, the T 9.3 remains a symbol of the engineering prowess of the early steam locomotive era – a true workhorse on the rails that made history.
