Model Details

New for 2026: DR Class 243 Electric Locomotive for TT Model Railways, Era IV. With increasing power plant capacities and the oil crisis acting as a catalyst, the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) accelerated the electrification of its rail network and therefore needed a universally applicable locomotive. After commissioning LEW "Hans Beimler" Hennigsdorf, the GDR's sole electric locomotive manufacturer, the prototype 212 001-2 was presented at the Leipzig Spring Fair in 1982. Due to its unique livery, it is also known as the "White Lady." From 1984 onwards, the Class 243 locomotives, intended for passenger and medium-weight freight service, were delivered in series. At its peak, the DR's fleet comprised 640 locomotives. After reunification, the locomotives were gradually reclassified as Class 143. By the time DB AG was founded in 1994, all locomotives had been reclassified and were in service nationwide. With the introduction of the further developed Class 112.1, which has a top speed of 160 km/h, and the new division into business units, the Class 143 locomotives, with their maximum speed of 120 km/h, were only used in local passenger service. The TT scale model impresses with its prototypical design, fine roof details with metal pantographs, and modern LED technology. Thanks to its reliable running characteristics and easy digital retrofitting, the Class 243 is an ideal addition to realistic TT layouts of Era IV. Suitable for TT scale | LED headlights white/red, direction-dependent | Next18 interface for easy digitization | Digitally switchable cab lighting (with decoder) | TT close couplings for prototypical car spacing | Prepared for easy sound upgrade
