Model Information

The post-war period of the 1950s marked a new beginning for the Klein-Wiele freight forwarding company in Bocholt, in the Münsterland region. With considerable personal commitment and a manageable fleet, the company began offering regional freight transport – often under simple conditions and with basic vehicles. During this time, Klein-Wiele laid the foundation for its reputation as a reliable partner in the transport industry. As the company grew, new vehicles were added, resulting in a diverse fleet. This included the Hanomag L 28, which is featured in the model series in a contemporary design. The Hanomag L 28 was a perfect fit for Klein-Wiele, as it was the first small truck that the Hanover-based automaker had introduced to the market as a typical "fast truck." Presented at the Brussels Motor Show in 1950, the cab-over-engine truck made a visually striking impression with its wide front and integrated headlights, and bore a certain resemblance to the Opel Blitz long-hood truck introduced two years later. Initially designed for a 1.5-ton payload, later versions with up to three tons of payload followed – the diesel engines initially produced 50 hp, later 65 and 70 hp.
